Cycling, roller hockey and swimming have enabled Reus sports to achieve moments of glory and fame, as has the holding of major events such as the 1992 Olympic Games, when Reus hosted the roller hockey events, or the 1996 Special Olympics. Alongside the activities of the town's sports clubs, the council backs different schemes which aim to bring sport to all, not just from a competitive point of view but also as a way of staying healthy.
