The planned new infrastructures such as the new high-speed train will play a fundamental role in bringing about the goal of weaving together the fabric of existing infrastructures (the airport, the seaport and the road and rail networks). This will allow new urban development – on the basis of redeveloping the land currently taken up by obsolete railway lines – in an area which will be called upon to house a growing population in the near future, as well as making it possible for mobility between towns to have a direct impact in terms of greater opportunities for economic and social progress.
