The Reus City Council is calling for a minute of silence this Monday, April 20, at 12 noon, in Plaça del Mercadal, to condemn the murder due to sexist violence of two women confirmed this April:

  • A sixty-four-year-old woman allegedly murdered by her ex-partner on April 13 in the province of Córdoba. There was a history in the VioGén System and the victim had recently reported the alleged aggressor for gender violence.

With the confirmation of these cases, the updated data on gender violence, provided by the Ministry of Equality, are as follows:

  • 11 orphaned minors in 2026 and 515 since 2013, the year the official count began.

  • 3 minors murdered in 2026 and 68 since 2013.

Through this call, the Reus City Council expresses a firm condemnation of gender-based violence, reiterates its commitment to its eradication and calls on all citizens to join this act of rejection and solidarity.
