This November, the city of Reus is filled with electronic sounds and creativity with the new autumn edition of the Festival Contemporaneus 2024. With concerts that want to bring this genre closer to the public, the festival offers an immersive experience where electronics are combined with instruments classics and new technologies.

The festival aims to place Reus on the European map of newly created music and open the doors to new ways of listening and feeling. For Joan Bagés and Joan Martí-Frasquier, creators of the initiative, "each concert is an opportunity to bring avant-garde art and music closer to the public, a moment to share sounds that, we hope, are as new as exciting

A special program to discover new sound horizons

  • Friday, November 22: World premiere of the work "Xama" for flute and electronic music by the composer Ramon Humet by Alfonso Rubio, flutist of the Zahir Ensamble. He will complete the program with works by K. Saariaho, P. Manoury and A. Carretero in a concert where you can see how the electronics dialogue with the flute and modify its sounds.
  • Saturday, November 23: Joan Bagés and Rubí will present two sessions of purely electronic music. The first, dedicated to current composers of acousmatic music and who testify to the liveliness and stylistic diversity of this radically current musical genre.

In the second, Chill-Out, we will be able to listen to an electronica that blurs the stylistic borders between electronic music and with a strong influence of popular electronica.

"Xama" is a work by the composer "Ramon Humet" composed after attending a Temazcal ceremony in Mont-roig del Camp. In which, according to Humet, "I felt the need to write a work based on the energy of the incessant pulsation of the shamanic drum at a fast tempo, of 220bpm, to produce a state of dissolution of time and alteration of consciousness.”

The festival will take place at the Cal Massó Art Center, a perfect place for its acoustic conditions and its special charm. Tickets cost €10 for each concert.
