The Department of Culture and Linguistic Policy has the competences in matters of language and ensures the correct application of the Regulation for the use of the Catalan language (RULC) at the City Hall.

On the one hand, it studies, defines and proposes strategies, plans, projects and guidelines in the field of language policy; on the other hand, in collaboration with the Center for Linguistic Standardization of the Reus Area Miquel Ventura, is in charge of attention, dialogue and relations with citizens, groups, entities, associations, companies, organizations and institutions in relation to the same matter.

The municipal language policy is worked on from three different axes, advice, training and revitalization:

• 1. The advice: The Language Advice Service (SAL) is aimed at the staff of Reus City Council and its autonomous bodies and municipal companies. 

• 2. The training: attention and planning of the annual and specific training offer for the staff of the town hall and the courses aimed at the indigenous, foreign and newly arrived population. Training offer of Linguistic Standardization Center of the Reus Miquel Ventura Area.

The Center for Linguistic Normalization of the Reus Miquel Ventura Area, with municipal participation, offers Catalan courses of different levels for adults and linguistic advice to companies and entities, in addition to carrying out actions to promote the use of the Catalan language. This organization is based at Mas Vilanova.
