Year Gabriel Ferrater 2022
In 2022, Gabriel Ferrater Year is commemorated, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poet and intellectual from Reus and the 50th anniversary of his death. Gabriel Ferrater was born in Reus in 1922, where he lived until the Civil War arrived with his brother Joan Ferraté, also a writer, translator and publisher. He then lived in France, Barcelona, Germany, until he settled in Sant Cugat as a professor at the incipient Autonomous University of Barcelona, until his death by suicide at the age of 50.
The activities of the Gabriel Ferrater Year serve to spread the multifaceted figure of the poet, who was also a linguist, critic, translator and teacher and to recognize his contribution in the field of Catalan literature and culture in general.
Gabriel Ferrater and Soler Year in Catalonia
Every year and with the aim of highlighting, remembering and disseminating the memory of events and people who have been transcendent in the Catalan collective heritage, the Commission of Commemorations of the Generalitat agrees which they are and the different departments that will manage them . Of the Year Gabriel Ferrater i Soler is responsible for developing the commemorative performances Department of Culture (web Year Gabriel Ferrater) through the Institution of Catalan Letters, with the collaboration of Reus City Council and Sant Cugat City Council. He is the Commissioner Jordi Cornudella, poet, critic and curator of Gabriel Ferrater's work, who was also a member of the jury for the Ciutat de Reus Narrative Prize, "Diré el que em fuig"
From the Prologue to the Gabriel Ferrater Year 2022
Around his figure, the Municipal Libraries, with the support of the IMRC and the hand of the'Association Gosar Poder acting as curator and with the financial support of the Diputació de Tarragona, several events have already been scheduled for 2021, as a prologue to the activity of 2022. The Gabriel Ferrater Year opens in Reus on February 22 at the Bartrina Theater in an event with audiovisual projections with archival and unpublished material, a reading of texts in verse and prose by Ferrater and a musical interpretation of a few poems.
