Sant Joan University Hospital
Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital is the hospital of reference in the basic health area of Baix Camp - Priorat.
With 93.000 square meters and 120 million euros of investment, it is the most ambitious project ever done in the city. It materialized in 2010, under the impetus of Reus City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The center has the professional expertise and technological equipment necessary to provide the best service to each user. Thus, it is prepared to be a reference in certain specialties such as Oncology, Bariatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Vascular Medicine or Thoracic Surgery, while keeping its university vocation very much in mind.
Management
Since July 2020, the Hospital has been part of the Public Law Entity (EDP) Salut Hospital Sant Joan de Reus – Baix Camp.
It is a public law entity, attached to the Generalitat of Catalonia through the Catalan Health Service, and with a municipal presence, as a formula to guarantee rootedness in the territory.
The Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital is thus opening a new stage in 2020 that allows a vision of health care to be deployed in a network and as a whole in Camp de Tarragona; ensure the presence of research and the university, guarantee the training and quality of the care activity of the health center, as well as the portfolio of services. At the same time, the foundations are laid to make its expansion possible, for the benefit of citizens and patients. These aspects are included in the "Regulatory agreement for the rationalization of the assistance activity of the public health system in Camp de Tarragona and the Terres de l'Ebre".
