Municipal Council of Solidarity and International Cooperation

The General Assembly of the Corporation, meeting on October 29, 1999, agreed to establish the Municipal Council of Solidarity and International Cooperation. The council is a complementary municipal body for consultation, analysis, debate, information, preparation of proposals, coordination and also monitoring of activities and projects in the field of international solidarity and development cooperationint.

The objectives of the Municipal Council of Solidarity and International Cooperation are:

  • Know and, where appropriate, submit proposals to the competent bodies of the City Council to spread and spread the values ​​of solidarity and cooperation among the citizens of Reus.
  • Promote emergency campaigns for humanitarian aid.
  • Cooperate with municipalities in other countries of the so-called third world and with supra-municipal organizations dedicated to this purpose.
  • Promote and monitor development cooperation projects and also other activities related to this area.

The council is made up of 32 NGOs, a representative of the Reus Residents Association Federation (FAVR) and a representative of each of the municipal groups.
