After a few months at the Furniture Restoration Center of Catalonia (Valldoreix), the general plan of the city of Reus from 1893 by the architect Pere Caselles, is now back in the city, in the Municipal Archives.

The document required a restoration-conservation intervention since due to its nature and the passing of the years it presented deformations and strips along the perimeter, and cracks in the central part. The restoration proposal contemplated, in addition to the basic processes carried out in documents of these characteristics, correcting the deformations, consolidating the strips of fabric and paper, and reintegrating the losses.

Finally, a photographic reproduction has been made, in addition to the fact that, in order to have a high-resolution image of each of the fragments, it has been chosen to carry out a photogrammetry.

It is a completely unique document, because in addition to its historical and urban importance, it has large dimensions (5,5 x 5,3 m). It is made up of three fragments that make up the complete drawing of the city of Reus from the year 1893. It includes the names of the streets and the width of the facade of the estates.

Reus City Council has received a grant of €3.142 from the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Cultural Initiative Support Office, to cover the €10.476,06 cost of the intervention.

The documentary heritage conservation project, carried out by the Municipal Archives, is consolidated year after year, with the aim of preserving unique and highly important documents of the city. In addition to the conservation-restoration intervention, the documentation is also digitized and made available to the public.

The plan will be presented in public during the international week of Archives, where in addition to contextualizing it from the hand of an expert, we will learn what the intervention process was by the restorer, Anna Ferran, as well as we will also have with the presence of representatives of the Furniture Restoration Center of Catalonia.
