History, situation and city data

The city of Reus is close to the sea and the mountains of the Costa Daurada, in a strategic location in terms of communications and infrastructure.

Reus is a medium-sized city, halfway, but close to, the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of the Costa Daurada and separated by only a hundred kilometers from Barcelona, as well as 250 kilometers away from France. It has its origins in the Middle Ages, but its population and urban growth began in the XNUMXth century, to the point of becoming the second largest population in Catalonia. It would also become the city of reference for the cultural movements that emerged in the XNUMXth century, after Barcelona. In addition, the industrial and then commercial push was remarkable.

At present, it has a decisive weight within the Camp de Tarragona, the second demographic, economic and metropolitan area of Catalonia, leading a geographically diverse territory. As a backdrop, 30 kilometers away, there are the Prades and Priorat mountains, the Mola de Colldejou and the Mussara; and on the horizon, the Mediterranean of the Costa Daurada, with Salou and Cambrils fifteen minutes away.

The pre-coastal location means that Reus is characterized by hot summers and moderate winters, with irregular rainfall.
